These cocottes are made from enamelled cast-iron by Le Creuset.

From the kitchen to the table, these porcelain enamelled cast-iron casseroles allow you to bake, broil, braise, saute, marinate, refrigerate and freeze your cooking.

Cast iron has been used by cooks since Roman times, even with todays wide choice of cooking materials cast iron reigns supreme. It will spread heat more evenly, retain heat longer and won't react to acidic foods.
