WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Policy

WEEE affects all of us and relates to all electrical equipment you use in and around the house. Introduced in 2005, it is legislation that is meant to try to encourage all of us to be more environmentally responsible about the manufacture, use and disposal of electrical items.

Some electrical items you are using will have been bought before 2005 and as a consequence they may contain higher amounts of hazardous substances than they would if they were manufactured post 2005. These substances can contaminate water and soil if left in landfill sites and this in turn can have a detrimental effect on human health and the environment.

A crossed out wheelie bin shows your product was made after 13th August 2005. Products that have this symbol are classified as WEEE and when they are no longer needed they should not be put in with your household waste.

If you are purchasing an electrical item from us in order to replace one you already have you can return your WEEE to us for safe disposal. If you require this service you must inform us of your desire to return your old electrical equipment to us before we deliver your new item. Please note that if you notify us after your order has been delivered it is your responsibility to dispose of your old equipment responsibly.

Once we have your WEEE we will dispose of it in an environmentally conscientious way to help reduce emissions into the atmosphere and reduce landfill.
